Student Affairs Committee (SAC) Member Requirements ▼

Committee members will participate in SAC meetings, but will not actively engage in a subcommittee. They will be flexible and available to assist with student programs and/or events when needed. This volunteer position has the lowest commitment level, but a committee member can join a student program or event subcommittee at any time.

An ideal candidate will have a passion for interior design education, an interest in sharing ideas for all student programs, and will serve as an ambassador of IIDA Northland chapter, willing to promote student events, recruit mentors and volunteers, and solicit sponsors on an as-needed basis.

Program or Event Chair Requirements ▼

Each IIDA Northland chapter student program or event will have a chair or two co-chairs, members of the SAC who will lead the program, coordinate, direct and manage subcommittee volunteers, and act as overall project manager for the event. IIDA board members will provide training and support to the chairs in the areas of logistics, resources, budget, sponsorship, and volunteer recruitment and management.

An ideal candidate will have a passion for interior design education, an interest in supporting a specific program or event, and should be organized and a good communicator. Professional or volunteer experience with project management and/or managing others is preferred but not required.

Program or Event Subcommittee/Task Group Member Requirements ▼

Each IIDA Northland chapter student program or event will have a subcommittee or task group, led by one or two chairs, to plan the event, recruit volunteers, solicit sponsors, market the event, and more as needed. Subcommittees will meet regularly outside of the SAC meetings, while a task group will only have outside meetings as needed. A subcommittee member will work to execute all tasks required to successfully run the event or program. Specific skill sets are welcome; for example, a graphics skill set could be used to create marketing materials. SAC members can serve as a subcommittee member for more than one event or program.

An ideal candidate will have a passion for interior design education, an interest in supporting a specific program or event, and should be a good communicator.
