Get involved with IIDA Northland
IIDA Northland has many opportunities for volunteers to get involved.
Levels of Involvement:
- Volunteer: Miscellaneous help at events or preparing for the event
- Committee Member: Attend monthly meetings and support the overall needs and goals of the committee
- Co-Chair: Partner with the board members in a leadership capacity to direct and organize the monthly meetings and support the overall committees goals.
Advocacy: IIDA Northland and the ASID Minnesota Chapter have formed a joint political action committee to oversee the effort to monitor legislation for the industry. The coalition name is the Minnesota Interior Design Legislative Action Committee (MIDLAC).
Communications: Act as a brand ambassador and help promote IIDA through social media and other special projects.
Community Outreach: Coordination of quarterly Community Outreach Events with a goal of giving back to the community, advocating our profession, and allowing members to interact in a more meaningful way.
FAB Awards: Oversee planning of the annual IIDA Northland award ceremony, including venue selection, food/beverage coordination, developing marketing materials and sponsorship opportunities, judge selection, and project entry coordination. Responsible for IIDA website updates, email blasts, and social media regarding FAB.
Forums: Planning and coordination of monthly forums, including venue selection, food/beverage, marketing, and coordination of presenters and volunteers.
Fusion: Oversee planning of the annual IIDA Northland Fundraiser, including venue selection, food/beverage coordination, developing marketing materials and sponsorship opportunities, and judge and entertainment selection and coordination. Responsible for IIDA website updates, email blasts, and social media regarding Fusion.
Minnecon: Oversee planning of the annual IIDA Northland Minneapolis tradeshow, including venue selection, food/beverage coordination, developing marketing and sponsorship opportunities, and coordinating vendor booths. Responsible for IIDA website updates, email blasts, and social media regarding Minnecon.
Minnecon – Professional Development: Assist in planning CEUs and Keynote speaker at Minnecon. Assist in selection of CEUs, venue coordination, AV research, day of coordination, check in, marketing, and succession planning.
NCIDQ Roundtable: Oversee planning of venue, activities, finding a panel of 4 recent test takers that passed, food/beverage planning, expansion ideas on event, marketing, and day of check in.
Special Events: Coordination of Volunteer & Chapter Partner Appreciation Party, Members Only Forum, Women Run the Cities, and others as assigned.
Student Affairs – Campus Outreach: Coordinate and execute Campus Outreach strategy. Deliver IIDA message to surrounding schools, create social media posts to stay in front of students, develop marketing materials, and create monthly e-blast to students. Manage Student Advisory Board applications and selections into the program. Responsible for IIDA website updates relevant to Campus Outreach initiatives.
Student Affairs - INSIGHT: Coordination of INSIGHT mentorship program: responsible for modifying program applications as needed, review applications and lead the Student Affairs Committee in selecting mentor/mentee matches, responsible for notifying matches and ensuring connections have been made, develop content and execute kick-off event and winter event, and survey participants. Responsible for IIDA website updates within INSIGHT site.
Student Affairs - NEXT: Responsible for leading NEXT initiatives: continued effort to build awareness and increase participation from students in the competition, develop and host kick-off event, and integrate NEXT announcement into FAB Awards event. Responsible for IIDA website updates within NEXT site.
Student Affairs - PIQUE: Plan and execute PIQUE event: set timing and program for the day, research and select a speaker or workshop facilitator, recruit volunteers for the event where needed, coordinate transportation as needed, secure off-site locations if needed, and survey students. Work with MinneCon co-chairs and Professional Development co-chairs to align on timing and events for the day, be present during event to run activities. Responsible for IIDA website updates within PIQUE site.
Vision: Assist in planning the Vision leadership breakfast, including venue selection, speaker selection, food/beverage, marketing event, coordination of volunteers, speaker transportation and accommodation coordination.
Volunteer Coordination: Monitor incoming "get involved" requests, committee needs requests, and match up potential volunteers with opportunities available.
