PIQUE 2017 was a HIT!

For the past 5 years Students and recent graduates from schools around the area attend a full event/workshop occurring alongside Minnecon. If you attended this years event at Target Field you may have seen the group throughout the day as they networked, explored the showroom, and attended the speaker hosted lunch. In addition they had the opportunity to participate in a workshop hosted by local artist and designer Ashley Mary (http://ashleymary.com/). Attendees were able to hear her personal journey and navigation through her career and finding her personal brand. Her story was both an inspiration and encouragement emerging professionals as she talked about the changing and exploring that happens throughout a career. Through her process and story she encouraged and taught the students about how to explore their own brand and embrace it.

“I found the event really inspiring- especially the message that careers ebb and flow and to be open and adaptable to the change, but also remain true to yourself and your passions!”

Hands-On Creating

A special highlight for many students was creating their own piece of art through the workshop as Ashley Mary led a hands-on creative project. This included the students making collages from a variety of materials by building them up in different steps as a process.

“Ashely’s philosophy and hands on approach with different materials was an exciting and inspiring deviation from digital creation.”

Students had so many positive thoughts from the event, below are just a few highlights from the day!

“As a student, Pique gave the opportunity to grow in networking skills, creative insight, and the opportunity to dive into the design community. The interest and passion that industry professionals took in expanding student knowledge of their products made the day a highlight in my interior design education. ”

“Pique this year was great! I loved connecting with peers from other schools, meeting professionals, and learning from Ashley Mary.
