JOB DESCRIPTION
 

Studio Grey is looking for an innovative person to join our team for a full-time Senior Interior Designer position. The candidate should be a highly motivated and proactive individual with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in commercial design including restaurants, lodging, multi-family, mixed-use, and workplace. A designer who enjoys growing and leading with a boutique size company, one who is passionate and pushes the boundaries of design and values a brand as an essential project tool would be a great candidate.
 

THE POSITION OVERVIEW
 

As a key member of our design studio, you will collaborate with our design team to develop solutions on a variety of projects from concept to completion. The role will be responsible for collaborating with the design team for the implementation of creative strategies that support the company’s dependable performance and deliverables. The designer will assist in leading our Interiors team while participating in business development strategies and staffing hours reports. Important traits would be a design-centric team player, strong verbal and written communication skills, highly organized, and excels in project and time management.
 

This individual is responsible for completing design projects in all phases with Revit proficiency also including design concept presentations, 3D renderings, assembly of material palettes, furniture selections, and assembling furniture, fixture and equipment spreadsheets with specification and pricing. Knowledge of purchase orders and procurement would be helpful. The position is accountable for producing design and construction documentations for all assigned projects and taking on a project management role.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attend and present at client meetings, both in person and digitally.
  • Draft all projects from concept through construction documents utilizing Revit.
  • Assemble design presentations with Adobe programs.
  • Source, specify, and price FF&E items and perform installation activities for décor.
  • Assemble purchase orders for project furniture procurements.
  • Develop finish palettes and design documents to relay the ideas to clients and internal team.
  • Collaborate with outside vendors.
  • Draft construction documents for all architectural sheets and pick up redlines from internal drawing reviews.
  • Perform Construction Administration tasks including shop drawing and submittal reviews.
  • Attend construction meetings on site and via conference calls.
  • Lead as a Project Manager and communicate project status updates with project teams.
  • Collaborate with Design team to ensures customer needs are met, and the final project adheres to company brand identity standards and overall project budget.
  • Explore emerging forms of digital communication mediums to keep our solutions and processes innovative. Participate in evolving and refining the project process for continual improvement.
  • Organize and review staffing hours with Management for a keen sense on project profitability and project staffing capabilities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4-year bachelor’s degree in interior design
  • 7 years’ experience as a commercial interior designer
  • 1-3 years’ experience as a Project Manager
  • Knowledge and skill of specifying finishes, materials, furniture and lighting sources, and custom design creations.
  • Minimum 7-year experience in developing construction documents in Revit
  • BIM knowledge and thorough understanding of Revit setups
  • Knowledgeable in AutoCAD.
  • Strong design and visualization skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven project management skills, including planning, execution and follow-through.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of building codes, standards and accessibility requirements
  • Understanding of Microsoft Excel for FF&E related tasks.
  • Familiar with Microsoft, Adobe Creative Suite, and Office programs.
  • Licensure in NCIDQ or similar programs (or in the process of)
  • Interest in Brand Development.

Position Summary:
Lake Studio Design is a general contracting agency. We specialize in remodeling projects – either facelifts or guts – and collaborate with clients to transform their space, ensuring the design and function exceed expectations to bring ease and joy in day-to-day life. Our goal is to facilitate a streamlined and efficient project flow so clients experience minimal hassle or stress, and love the finished product because of the quality craftsmanship of our subcontractor partners and our attention to the details.

 

We are looking for a talented Interior Design Coordinator to join our team. This is a great opportunity for someone who is proactive, a self-starter, detail oriented and looking to gain valuable design experience at a growing company.

 

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Support winning new projects:
    • Attend initial client meetings to take detailed notes and measurements based on the project scope
    • Contribute design ideas to inform optimal layout of the space
    • Create AutoCAD Light drawings of the space to scale
    • Email subcontractor partners with relevant project details so they can provide a bid for the project
  • Coordinate selections once a project is approved:
    • Pull together design and selection boards for client projects, featuring appliances, light fixtures, hardware and other accessories based on the project parameters
    • Shop for client selections to generate ideas for options to present as needed
    • Utilize BuilderTrend to update and maintain client budget and selections based on confirmed items and pricing
    • Follow up with vendors on customer service issues to ensure timely resolution
  • Execute project set-up tasks before demo begins:
    • Order dumpsters for client projects and have them picked up after the project is complete
    • Ensure lockbox is in place prior to the project start date
    • Put Lake Studio Design signs in the yard prior to the project start date
  • Schedule and attend inspections
  • Run errands for the Owner, like picking up samples, returning product and shipping product to clients
  • Shop for staging accessories prior to photo shoots at the end of each project
  • Buy, wrap and send client gifts
  • Take on any additional responsibilities as it makes sense

Required Experience and Availability:

  • 2+ years of Interior Design experience
  • 2+ years of experience using AutoCad or AutoCad Light
  • Live in the Twin Cities Metro area (clients located in primarily western suburbs)
  • Available Monday – Friday between 8am-5pm, with flexibility for meetings depending on project timing
  • Independent contractor (e.g. invoice for hours worked)
  • Adept at using Google Drive and Docs

Interior Designer - MSR Design - Minneapolis - 2.13.2025

MSR Design, a national award-winning architecture and interior design firm headquartered in Minneapolis, is seeking an experienced interior designer to work on a wide variety of projects. We are seeking motivated individuals with curiosity and a passion for learning, strong technical skills in documentation and detailing, and interest in sustainable design as tracked through the ten measures of the AIA Framework for Design Excellence. The selected interior designer will be involved from concept design through construction completion of projects. We seek to hire an individual with a variety of backgrounds and the ability to work across multiple projects, who will thrive in our collaborative studio culture.
Required qualifications include:

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in interior design from a CIDA-accredited design school.
  • 5-10 years of experience as an interior designer.
  • Collaboration with architects in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Developing dynamic design concepts and following through to project completion.
  • Adept familiarity with contract furniture, textile and finish manufacturers and coordinating with industry reps.
  • Experience with FF&E budgeting, specifications and coordination with dealers.
  • Proficiency with presentation and graphics software (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and PowerPoint).
  • Advanced proficiency with 3D computer aided drafting (Revit) and familiarity with 2D computer aided drafting (AutoCAD).
  • Experience with 3D modeling and rendering (Revit and Enscape) and hand sketching.
  • NCIDQ certification preferred.
